The R-CAM XLT 1000 & 1300 borehole camera systems by Laval Underground Surveys are the industry standard for turnkey, portable downhole camera systems. The R-CAM XLT utilizes broadcast quality camera modules in both the down-view and side-view cameras to deliver the highest quality images possible. While competitors use inexpensive fish-eye lenses, the R-CAM XLT’s side view camera rotates 360 degrees, clockwise or counter-clockwise, allowing you a highly detailed view of the sides of the borehole.
Adjustable LED Lighting
When operating several hundred feet below the surface of the earth, adequate downhole lighting is absolutely essential. The R-CAM XLT is equipped with high-intensity, adjustable LED lights that allow you to select the appropriate level of brightness for your application. With an expected lifespan of 50,000 hours, these LED lights are engineered to provide incredible brightness for years to come.
State of the Art DVR
Video, still images, and audio recordings are captured on a state of the art, solid state DVR built into the control unit of the R-CAM XLT. The system comes equipped with 16 GB of internal storage and 16 GB of upgradeable external storage, meaning that you are never without the ability to record while in the field. Files can easily be accessed, managed, transferred, and renamed using the included wireless mini-QWERTY keyboard. Sharing or playing back your files has never been easier. Simply insert the removable USB stick into your computer, open the USB drive, and your files are ready to be viewed or shared with customers. There is no additional software needed to view or share survey data. Video files are stored in .mp4 format, while still images are captured as .jpegs. Once on your PC, files can easily be transferred to another USB drive, burned to a DVD, or uploaded to the cloud.
Highly Accurate Optical Encoder
One of the most important data points generated by a downhole camera is knowing the precise location of an object or issue downhole. Unlike systems that use depth markings on the cable, the on-screen depth counter display of the R-CAM XLT is coupled with an optical encoder that measures the amount of cable 100 times per revolution. This high level of accuracy ensures you know the exact depth of troublesome areas that are identified downhole.
Industrial Strength Cable
The R-CAM XLT 1000 & 1300 borehole camera system can be outfitted with either 1,000 feet (304.8 meters) or 1,300 feet (396.2 meters) of Kevlar reinforced double helix co-axial cable. The cable is capable of supporting up to 750 pounds.
Power Source
Both the R-CAM XLT 1000 & 1300 are powered by an external, rechargeable 12-volt battery that provides multiple hours of system power. Auxiliary power clips are included with the system to provide system power in the event that the battery is not fully charged. An optional AC/DC power adapter is available for powering the system via a generator.
